Ernesto Neto. El cuerpo como lugar común - Cayetano Limorte Menchón

Ernesto Neto (Rio de Janeiro, 1964) proposes with his work a new beginning, a return to that moment in which body and mind were indivisible in order to experience and participate in art not only with sight, the intellectual sense par excellence, but also with touch and even smell. This is how the artist encourages us to get involved body-to-body with the work of art, proposing a sensitive experience that goes from the individual to the collective, diluting not only the boundaries between artist and spectators, but also between art and life; an invitation to become aware of ourselves and of the other through this shared corporeality. With the intention, finally, of restoring temporarily and through art the lost experience of community that at some point in the history of the West made human beings feel like an inseparable extension of the world. But beyond a study of the artist and his work, this book is an urgent attempt to rethink ourselves from the common and non-duality. 

Cayetano Limorte Menchón

(Albatera, 1990) Graduate in Art History from the Complutense University of Madrid and Master's Degree in Contemporary Art History and Visual Culture (MNCARS, UCM, UAM). He has held a scholarship from the National Library of Spain and has collaborated as a lecturer at the University of Salamanca. He is co-author of the book Superficie de inscripción: escritura y fotografía (Ediciones Asimétricas, 2016) and curator of several exhibitions, including A cuerpo descubierto (2016), a joint project carried out by the curatorial team of CRUCE Arte y Pensamiento Contemporáneo de Madrid, where he has been coordinator of artistic projects.
