Ray Eames y Lina Bo Bardi. El viaje como laboratorio - Mara Sánchez Llorens y Fermina Garrido López

This book is a journey of journeys. A voyage through the paths, pilgrimages and moves made by two creators: Ray Eames and Lina Bo Bardi. Journeys that merge with their lives and their creative experiences; a succession of activities and essays that make up the "life laboratory" of these architects. 

As they travelled, Ray and Lina explored the unique gaze of other disciplines on problems that we sometimes think of as exclusive to our architectural practice. They went beyond the limits of canonical itineraries and found new sources of invention and new procedures in unused destinations, hand in hand with anthropology, crafts, fashion, shows and collecting. 

From destination to destination, through the United States, India, Italy, Brazil and Japan, Mara Sánchez Llorens and Fermina Garrido López reveal the different and fascinating aspects of an overflowing creative attitude that led Ray Eames and Lina Bo Bardi to compile objects from their travels, to exhibit them inside and outside the private sphere of their homes, to design furniture and jewellery and even to rewrite or film beautiful stories found during these journeys, in which they maintained their capacity for surprise with everyday life and their active stance to participate in the world around them. 

Fermina Garrido López y Mara Sánchez Llorens

Doctors of Architecture from the Polytechnic University of Madrid; both share their professional activity with teaching and research in various national and international universities. They shared classrooms between 2010 and 2013 and through this academic work they found fruitful points of convergence in their approach to architecture. In 2011 they undertook "Emergencia Creativa", a collaborative research between Departments of the Pontifical University of Salamanca in Madrid and other schools. In 2014 they started the research: Los viajes de Ray Eames y Lina Bo Bardi, work that triggered this book, which was presented at the II Congress of Research in Architecture and Gender, held in Lisbon in March 2015. Fermina and Mara have also developed the research Cita a ciegas. Casa de muñecas saudita,  exhibited at COAM in September 2016.
