As we disclosed in the previous publication, the objective of this research is the study of all those documents, mostly unpublished, which are kept in the archives of some of the main protagonists of contemporary Spanish architecture in relation to educational architecture. The architects who occupy us are Miguel Fisac, Francisco Javier Saénz de Oíza, Julio Cano Lasso, Fernando Higueras, Rafael Moneo and Alberto Campo Baeza and with the documents that have been found we are able to put at the disposal of the scientific community, and the interested public in general, a valuable material which could be the solid basis for future researches, in this field of architecture for educational purposes as well as the general work of our masters or the period they represent.

In this second phase that we publish now we have focused in the project processes of those works that we have consider representative of the thinking as well as how the authors worked. in this phase we have found numerous plans, photographs and texts, unpublished till now, many of which we present in this book.

For three years we have studied all the documents that, related to educational architecture, are kept in the personal archives of six of the main Spanish architects: Miguel Fisac, Francisco Javier Sáenz de Oíza, Julio Cano Lasso, Fernando Higueras, Rafael Moneo and Alberto Campo Baeza. The information found, once analysed, has allowed us to put at the disposal of the scientific community, and the interested public in general, valuable documentation composed by twenty essays and critic analysis on educational architecture at a general level as well as particular, more than 130 unpublished plans and sketches and, approximately one hundred analytic drawings drawn for the occasion with which we analyse the context and the original references as well as the evolution of the buildings through time and its current validity. Finally, we have broaden the sphere of our project by incorporating an exhaustive research on the use of ceramic on the part of the studied architects and the results are included in this third volume.

Our work concludes with some reflections on the present state of the buildings that we considered more representative in the first phase of the research, as well as on the role that, as models of reference, they can play in the new educational architecture of the twenty first century. Although it is true that some buildings have been luckier than others, all of them are still examples of a very high architectonic level which any researcher or planner who works in this sphere should know.

This manual aspires to be a useful guide for students and professionals who are involved in the design of lighting installations of buildings, by joining theorical concepts and practical examples. This is a didactic book written in an accessible, clear and concise language.

In the present document the authors, members of a multidisciplinary team of architects and engineers, explain the design of lighting systems in a visual and didactic way. The first chapter details the most important parameters of lighting technology. Chapters 2 and 3 present the correlation between the eye, the light, and the colour, other the fundamentals of lighting design, its units of measurement, and the concepts relevant to colour temperature, colour rendering index, together with the comprehension of curves and diagrams provided by manufacturers. The fourth chapter explains the calculating methods of indoor lighting and the lighting systems, by means of useful and practical examples in which the number of light spots are established according to the indoor lighting values that are determined by regulation. Throughout the fifth chapter the requirements to be complied by the energy efficiency values relevant to the indoor lighting installations can be found. The sixth chapter is dedicated to the method of nine points and the method of lumens for outdoor lighting. The senventh chapter provides strategies to harness sunlight through architectural design, and the last one, the eighth section, presents the lighting levels required by the UNE-12464-1 regulation. 

It must be highlighted that this book is published both in Spanish and English. Special attention has been paid to the selection of technical vocabulary in both languages. This will allow the reader to collaborate with international teams and to integrate into them.
